OMG Google wants a breakup
I might say some more about the news later. For now, Just wanted to say I’ma bit baffled with those who take Google’s announcement at face value.
Come on, reconsidering it’s China operation because Human Rights activists’ Gmail accounts were hacked? Was there ever anyone with a functioning brain who assumed rights activists’ accounts aren’t being hacked and constantly monitored?

Call me crazy, but I’m just not sure how priorities are being set anymore.

Few minutes ago, I opened a Twitter account.
Not sure why I did it, and in all honest, am a bit embarrassed. the pretext was, I wanted to write somewhere that Google services are currently unavailable, but come to think of it, I’m not sure why it’s important.

Update: Jeremy Goldkorn on Danwei seems to think it outrageous. I tend to agree with everything he says, but i just don’t believe the big G would stay blocked for very long. It happened few months ago, but only lasted an hour or so. Morning will tell whether I’m wrong.
And naturally, another update: Google is back. Everyone can breathe normally. Ah, what would I have done wihtout Nanny’s little dramas.
Youtube? What is Youtube?
Isn’t it sweet of the Shanghai Daily to report on Google’s intentions to expend the Youtube library? Readers would surely be happy to know that content from Universal, Discovery, National Geographic and many more will soon also be unavailable to them via Youtube.
(It’s just an agency item and probably editors haven’t given it much thought, but still caught my attention as being a bit ballsy, reporting this with no mention of the tube still being blocked in China).
